This is a nice little quiet neighborhood place. This was our 2nd visit. I had the Veggie Delite, which is made with egg whites & my husband had Southern Style Chorizo. Both dishes were delicious. The waiter kept the coffee coming. But one thing to note:. There is a 3% extra charge if you use a credit card.

It's easy to miss this café because of it's location in a strip mall but it is a hidden gem! The portion sizes are generous and the menu truly has something for everyone. I'm a healthy eater and they definitely had a supersized salad that was satisfying and delicious. My husband ordered the club sandwich with fries and it was photo worthy, it was so large. The restaurant is cozy and the waitstaff are friendly. Definitely recommend.

Southern Egg Cafe is unpretentious. It is easy to miss it from the road; it sits back in a corner at the edge of a small strip mall on Bailey Cover Road. It is small, relatively new, but it has gathered a faithful clientele and business appears to have picked up considerably since it opened and people learn about it..We tried it recently, without any expectations for the quality of the food. It was very good. We ate there twice before leaving town for several weeks. We returned again a few weeks later when we were back to Huntsville. The pancakes have always been cooked perfectly. They were a golden brown and not burned. The bananas added to the top made for an excellent breakfast. Other toppings are also available. On another trip I ordered fried eggs with hash browns and an English muffin. The muffin was very fresh, served warm and also not burned. The eggs were cooked so that the yolk was runny--just as I had ordered. The hash browns were brown, again not burned, and had an excellent flavor. The egg sandwich on a biscuit was also outstanding. The service was friendly. The coffee was fresh, not burned and had been recently made. Moreover, my cup never got empty before being filled again. When it gets busy, there can be a wait and staffing is limited. No doubt, this restaurant, like many others, has had a problem finding employees to work, especially when serving an early morning breakfast.Southern Egg Cafe is a new restaurant. It is worth the effort to locate it and give it a try. I highly recommend it.

This is hands down my new favorite breakfast all day place and definitely on the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Huntsville overall! They have a lunch food option, but I've only gotten so far as the breakfast in several visits thus far. Everything seems to be prepared from scratch, like a home cooked meal from mom growing up. Nothing seems like it came out of freezer or low quality. They do the basics EXTREMELY WELL. I usually have the 2 eggs breakfast meal, and I ALWAYS finish the plate clean, eating every morsel. My best friend who usually goes with me has the Tomale breakfast or the chorizo breakfast, and he says it's the best in Huntsville! I have zero complaints about the restaurant except maybe the size. The secret is out about this hidden gem, and it gets busy, especially on the weekend. That said, the longest I've waited is 20 minutes. The service is very personal and competent, so they keep it moving in a good, efficient way that doesn't make you seem rushed! I could go into explicit details about every item I've written, but I'll just say it's all seriously the best of that item I've eaten in a breakfast place in huntsville, easily! It's owned by a small Hispanic family. The two brothers run it with their sister (I think). As I understand it, one of the owners' wives does the pre prep on anything that requires that, such as the tamales and the seasoning of the meats. Even the grits are great here, and I usually skip that. They simply do everything on the small but ample restaurant really, really well!I can not recommend them enough! They are closed on Mondays, but other than that, they are open till 8 pm every other day. As I said, be ready for a little wait on weekends as the size of the space isn't huge. Whatever the wait, I promise you it's worth it!

This is your typical hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint with delicious options made just how you like them. The staff is super friendly and the food was high quality for the price. We will definitely be back!

Tried their lunch, my husband's sandwich was so big he could only eat half. My meatloaf was ok, just would be better with a coating of ketchup when baked. Black eyed peas and turnip greens we wonderful, as well as the cornbread. Staff was very courteous and friendly.

Just a wonderful, quaint little eatery. Around 15 tables and booths, so if you have a crowd, you'll have to spread out. I was seated as soon as I walked in and treated like family. The menu is a basic menu of down home eats. I ordered the "Southern Egg Breakfast with Bacon with biscuit". The food was made to order and brought out pretty quickly. My regular readers know I am a picky SOB when it comes to eggs over easy, and they absolutely nailed them. There was enough food to satisfy most diners. Everything was fantastic! The staff treat everyone like they were a either family or a reviewer (I NEVER tell folks they are being reviewed).I made a followup visit and was certainly not disappointed. This has to be one of the best breakfasts in Huntsville. Try it, you shan't be sorry!
